Gil Scott-Heron, R.I.P

Sad day when a musical genius passes. Gil Scott-Heron, visionary, author, musician, poet. Certainly not just another man about NYC. The legend lives on....

Ohhhhhhhh Alison...

As the iTunes plays on shuffle one of my all time favorite "acts" start to filter through the speakers. Goldfrapp. Will Gregory and Alison Goldfrapp what a musical tour de force. Shame olde Alison is going out with a woman at this precise minute.... but here goes a rather splendid video of the duo from youtube. The song is "Clowns" please enjoy.

*12*

Trying to clear my head I decided another mammoth run was in order so I did 12 miles in total. Cant say my heads any clearer but my god my legs are extremely sore.

Did the entire run listening to some classic Pink Floyd, Kitsune Boombox (some grungy french synth house!) and gave Lady Gaga's newest release a good listen to and on the whole im rather impressed at the level of musicianship, songwriting and lyricism. Very clever neu age pop music.

Hats off Gaga.

The depression kicks in.

Its been  a while since I have felt as low as I do these past two days. Role call at the doc's is needed to get some anti depressants I think.

Life would be so much easier dead sometimes. Eurghhh!

La dolce vita

ahhh the good life.

Last night was rather lovely. Spent the time in South Queensferry at Orocco Pier's brasserie section, Antico.

-ACTION SHOT-

The wine was flowing, the Campari was being guzzled in the form of my olde favorite Negroni.

The Sobranie's were being inhaled and the company were astoundingly beautiful and glamorous.

Food was fantastic especially my Steak and Crab cakes (for a change I had a fishy starter) and the salad was outstanding too.

Highly recommend.

Insomnia. Eurgh!

Isnt a night that goes by that I dont suffer from my little friend Insomnia.

Self diagnosis puts it down to some form of depression.

Nothing to be depressed about really but hey ho, where's the prozac
at but the lack of sleep fills my head with nonsense....

I like nothing better than....

Spending some quality time with friends I really love and I mean love.
Cocktails and fine wine/cognac and a good talking to one of my dearest friends.

Pushing the boat out.

Since the new year I have been jogging/running every second day, normally doing about 4-5 miles.

Today however I felt I wanted/needed to push myself further. So thought it was a great idea to do double my usual and ran for 5 miles straight and then jogged for a mile or so back home and walked the rest at a spritely pace...... DONE IN. Back is aching. Current mood - Athletic-

Should probably reassess my choice in apparel. Brooks Brothers shirt and Ralph Lauren shorts with Kenzo Homme training shoes and Abercrombie hoodie might not be the proper garments for this sorta thing... hmm!

Now its time for a loooong relaxing bath listening to Chopin.

A few good pictures I have displaying scale, proportion, composition and different subject.

Ex

Mister Browne!

For the past 5 years my style guru has been (like a good few other gents) Mr Thom Browne.

Being a tall guy (somewhere between 6'1 and 6'2) Sometimes when wearing a traditional suit I feel a little square even when I break up the block with pocket squares and contrasting colours/patterns.

When Mr Browne released his first menswear line in 2006 it felt like a breathe of fresh air. Reduced proportions, bold silhouette, sloping shoulders with minimal roping/structure and the finest fabrics around.

Thom Browne was educated in Economics and then fell into the fashion arena with the Ralph Lauren group. Thom's shrunken aesthetic was initiated when he started customising his own suiting. His own label was started on a very tight budget with no extra finances available for advertising etc. so Mr Browne decided to wear his own creations in and around NY and started receiving the order.

The rest as they say is fashion history.

Pity his threads retail in the highest end of the luxury menswear market alongside another Thom.... Ford that is (minus the 'h')
