Perfume

One of my main passions, interests, preoccupations, obsessions, loves, hates........ needs is the world of fragrance and perfumery.

This is just a quick post to draw attention to a new series on the BBC titled "Perfume" so I aint gonna bore you to tears with my fragrance knowledge, opinions and mental meanderings. YET.

Pt. 1 was a look at two of the industries leading names at opposing ends of the market. French "heritage" brand Guerlain (a formidable name in Perfumery now owned by super conglomerate LVMH) and the other Estee Lauder, a leading brand in fragrance and cosmetics which now owns a large number of the worlds most successful brands. In this episode the camera followed the launching of new fragrances by each house and also an intimate look at the real masters "Le Nez" at work creating blockbuster perfumes.
Something old, Something new.
Flacon designer/artist/magician/money maker!

The two noses at Guerlain, Thierry Wasser and Jean Paul Guerlain.

Creators of Tommy Hilfiger Loud, Aurelien Guichard & Yann Vasnier

Pt. 2 looks deeper into who makes the fragrances. The alchemists, scientists, visionaries.... the perfumer.

The olfactory master, Jean Claude Ellena at Hermés

The visionary Christopher Brosius of CB I Hate perfume

and the Scientist Jean Guichard from Givaudan. (small excerpt with Quentin Bisch sp? whom I met last year while working for Penhaligons.)

Do beware of the crazy weirdo clutching an old bottle of Dior Fahrenheit and talking about love.... hmm!
Bottling the memory.

My favorite part is the meeting between JCE and Catherine Fulconis, president of Parfums Hermés. Proper fragrance chat. Proper.

That will do.
